CONCORD, MA — A vehicle collided with an MBTA commuter on Sudbury Road near Thoreau Street on Monday, resulting in one injury.

Authorities reported that the injured person is expected to survive. The crash prompted the Concord Fire Department to advise drivers to avoid the area due to significant lane closures.

According to Concord police, Sudbury Road is closed between Thoreau and Grant streets as emergency responders assess the situation. Images shared by the Fire Department revealed a vehicle with a severely damaged front end.

“Earlier this evening, a motor vehicle drove into a Commuter Rail train at the Sudbury Road crossing in Concord,” said Emma DeGrandi, a stakeholder engagement specialist with Keolis, which operates the MBTA Commuter Rail.

As a result of the incident, Trains 425 and 438 have been canceled, with passengers being redirected to alternative services. The cancellations are expected to affect evening commutes.

The cause of the collision remains under investigation, with authorities gathering further details.
