Crash on Interstate 70 Disrupts Events at Missouri State Fair
A crash on Interstate 70 in Boone County early Thursday morning caused the cancellation of scheduled sea lion shows at the Missouri State Fair.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol's Troop F, the incident occurred at approximately 3 a.m. on westbound I-70 at the 133-mile marker. A tractor-trailer transporting three sea lions struck a concrete barrier.
Three individuals were transported to University Hospital with moderate injuries, while the sea lions were reported to be unharmed.
Veterinarians from the University of Missouri Veterinary Health Center responded to the scene to assist in safely relocating the animals and conducted evaluations.
In light of the incident, the Missouri State Fair announced via Facebook that the Sea Lion Splash shows have been canceled.
