LACEY — The northbound lanes of the Garden State Parkway in the Forked River section of the township were closed Friday evening after a major crash involving multiple motor vehicles near mile marker 75, according to the Ocean County Sheriff's Office.
Authorities said the collision, which occurred at approximately 6:15 p.m., involved three SUVs and a sedan. Emergency responders attended the scene, including local police and the Lacey Township Volunteer Fire Company.
Initial reports indicated that at least two individuals sustained injuries, with one person transported to Community Medical Center. The severity of the injuries has not been disclosed.
Witnesses reported hazardous conditions due to rain at the time of the incident, although this has not yet been confirmed as a contributing factor.
Northbound traffic was diverted off the Parkway at exit 74, causing significant delays. Towing services were on-site to remove the vehicles, and the official investigation into the crash is ongoing.
