CLEAR LAKE, Iowa — A boat crash early Thursday claimed the life of 59-year-old Dennis Ritter of Meservey.
At approximately 8:30 a.m., authorities responded to reports of a collision in the Little Lake area. Ritter and another individual were fishing when their boat was struck from behind. Both were transported to a nearby hospital following the incident.
Ritter was pronounced dead; the other passenger was treated for injuries and released the next day. Passengers in the other boat were unharmed, according to the Iowa Department of Natural Resources.
Investigators have confirmed that alcohol was not a factor in the crash. The investigation is ongoing.
