Corporal identified as victim fatally struck by car while assisting motorist on I-95 in Boxford, Massachusetts, Monday evening.
A corporal with the Suffolk County Sheriff's Department, Corporal Brett Martin, 51, was confirmed as the victim of the crash that occurred shortly after 8:30 p.m. on Interstate 95 southbound near mile marker 74.
Authorities said Martin was attempting to assist a stranded motorist when he was struck by an oncoming vehicle. He was transported to a nearby hospital with life-threatening injuries and later succumbed to his injuries.
Emergency responders were dispatched to the scene, and lane closures were implemented as the investigation continued. No additional information regarding the driver or any other injuries has been released.
