Louisiana State Police are investigating a deadly pedestrian crash that occurred early Monday on Interstate 55 in Tangipahoa Parish.

The crash happened near LA Hwy 40. According to preliminary investigations, a 2018 Hyundai Santa Fe was traveling northbound in the left lane when it struck a pedestrian, who was also walking in that lane. The pedestrian was subsequently hit by a freight truck before emergency personnel arrived.
The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene, while the drivers of both vehicles involved were uninjured. The identity of the pedestrian is being withheld pending notification of next of kin. This incident remains under investigation by local authorities.
