Berkeley County— A 24-year-old woman was killed in a head-on collision with a semi truck on a rural county road on Oct. 24.
Aria Lawrence of Andrews was pronounced dead at the scene near N. Highway 17A and Peartree Lane, according to the county coroner, who released her identity on Oct. 26.
At approximately 4:30 p.m., Lawrence was driving a Chevy Malibu northbound when her vehicle sideswiped a Ford pickup truck traveling south. Master Trooper William Bennett with the S.C. Highway Patrol reported that Lawrence's sedan then collided head-on with a semi truck following the pickup.
The drivers of the Ford pickup and the semi truck were unharmed. All vehicles involved were occupied only by their drivers.
The collision occurred in rural Berkeley County, located just over four miles from Jamestown and near the borders with Williamsburg and Georgetown counties.
The S.C. Highway Patrol is investigating the incident.
