Camdenton Police SUV Collides with Vehicle While Responding to Emergency Call.

A Camdenton police officer was injured Saturday afternoon in a crash involving a patrol vehicle at U.S. 54 and Business Route 5.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol (MSHP), the collision occurred around 2:10 p.m. The officer was driving a 2022 Explorer east with emergency lights and sirens activated when the patrol vehicle entered the intersection against a red light and was struck by a southbound 2019 Volkswagen Jetta.

The 33-year-old officer sustained moderate injuries and was transported by Mercy Ambulance to Lake Regional Hospital for treatment. The 22-year-old driver of the Volkswagen, also from Camdenton, was not reported injured.

Both vehicles sustained significant damage; the patrol SUV incurred moderate damage while the Volkswagen was deemed totaled. Both vehicles were towed from the scene.

MSHP continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident.
