Illinois Man Dies in Hit-and-Run Crash on I-90 Near Wisconsin Dells.

WISCONSIN DELLS, Wis. — A tragic incident on Monday claimed the life of a 76-year-old man from Illinois. Terry R. Nydegger, a resident of Springfield, Illinois, died when his eastbound pickup truck was struck by an just after 1:29 p.m. on Interstate 90 near Wisconsin Dells, according to the Wisconsin State Patrol.

The collision propelled Nydegger's vehicle across the median into the westbound lanes, where it collided with two semi-trucks. Nydegger was traveling alone in his truck and was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident. One driver sustained minor injuries from the impact.

The driver of the SUV fled the scene in a separate vehicle, prompting investigators to classify the crash as a hit-and-run. To assist with the investigation, all westbound lanes of the interstate were closed for approximately six hours.
