SCOTTVILLE, Mich. (WPBN/WGTU) — A 30-year-old man from Scottville was arrested early Thursday morning after leading deputies on a high-speed chase that reached over 100 mph, according to the Mason County Sheriff's Office.

The incident began around 2:35 a.m. on US-31 near Forest Trail in Grant Township when a deputy attempted to stop the vehicle for . The driver evaded arrest, accelerating westbound on Forest Trail at speeds up to 100 mph.

Deputies lost sight of the vehicle momentarily but later located it on Morton Road. When authorities attempted to re-initiate the stop, the suspect swerved around a patrol car and continued east before losing control and crashing into multiple trees near US-31.

After the crash, the driver fled the scene but was apprehended after a brief pursuit. During the incident, he allegedly discarded what deputies believe was a handgun from the vehicle. A pistol magazine was discovered in his pocket, and suspected cocaine was also recovered from the car.

The suspect is currently held at the Mason County Jail, facing multiple charges as the investigation continues. No injuries to officers or civilians were reported.
