High Point, NC – A 79-year-old man died in a two-car collision on Wednesday, according to a news release from local authorities.
The crash occurred at approximately 3:15 p.m. on West Green Drive near the intersection with East Fairfield Road. Authorities reported that a sedan and an SUV were involved in the incident.
Emergency services from the High Point Fire Department and Guilford County EMS responded to the scene. Medics transported the driver of the sedan, identified as the deceased, to a nearby hospital where he was later pronounced dead.
The driver of the SUV, a 52-year-old woman, sustained minor injuries and was treated at the scene. No other occupants were involved in either vehicle.
Following the collision, West Green Drive was closed for approximately two hours to facilitate the investigation and vehicle removal. The High Point Police Department has initiated an investigation into the cause of the crash.
