LARGO, Fla. — A 38-year-old woman remains hospitalized with life-threatening injuries following a 10-car crash in Largo on Wednesday, September 16.
The Largo Police Department responded to the incident at approximately 8 a.m., taking four individuals to the hospital. Caitlyn Sinopoli suffered severe injuries, including a brain bleed and fractures to her pelvis and spine.
Witnesses reported that airbags deployed in Sinopoli's vehicle, and she was unconscious when emergency responders arrived. Her husband, Michael Desrochers, noted she required six stitches and faces a long recovery involving physical therapy.
Sinopoli was reportedly en route to work after dropping off her seven-year-old son, who was not in the vehicle during the incident. Her mother, Kimberly Cortes, described the moment as “scary and overwhelming” when learning about her daughter's condition.
Sinopoli is currently being treated at Orlando Health Bayfront Hospital in St. Petersburg, where she will require multiple therapies. Doctors will reassess her condition in five days.
A GoFundMe campaign has been established to assist the family with medical expenses.
The Largo Police Department stated that the investigation into the crash is ongoing, with preliminary findings indicating no signs of impairment from the driver involved.
