MTA Crash in Pikesville Injures 36, Driver in Critical Condition

PIKESVILLE, MD — A mass casualty incident occurred Wednesday evening around 6 p.m. when an MTA bus struck multiple vehicles before crashing into a FedEx building in the 1500 block of Reisterstown Road.

According to Baltimore County Police, the crash involved 12 vehicles, resulting in a total of 36 injuries, including the bus driver, who is reported to be in critical condition. Eyewitnesses noted the severity of the scene, with local officials likening it to a “war scene.”

Fifteen ambulances from various counties, including Howard and Anne Arundel, responded promptly to the incident to transport patients to local hospitals. BGE also arrived at the scene to address downed power lines reported post-crash.

Authorities are still investigating the circumstances leading to the collision. Video evidence indicates the bus may have run a red light before colliding with a white .

Governor Wes Moore and Baltimore County Councilman Julian Jones expressed their gratitude to first responders and extended thoughts to those affected.

“This coordinated emergency response is well underway,” said Councilman Jones. “I encourage residents to avoid the area to allow emergency crews the space they need.”
