19-Year-Old Arrested After Car Strikes Utility Pole

JOHNSTON, R.I. — A 19-year-old driver was arrested after a 2 a.m. crash into a utility pole on Greenville Avenue.

According to the Johnston Police Department, Elvis Goins, 19, was charged with driving under the influence and refusal to submit to a chemical test.

Authorities said his vehicle struck a utility pole and rolled over around 2 a.m. on Greenville Avenue.

Police said Goins displayed several signs of impairment after he was pulled from the vehicle.

He was taken to a hospital for his injuries, authorities said.
