A cattle trailer overturned on eastbound Interstate 40 at Washington Street in Amarillo around 5:45 p.m. Wednesday, releasing a 1,600-pound bull.
Authorities said eastbound traffic was diverted during the evening rush as the animal moved roughly 1.3 miles south from the crash.
Police corralled the bull into a backyard in the 3400 block of South Jackson Street, authorities said.
Witnesses reported the animal was bleeding and appeared overheated at the scene.
The Potter County Sheriff's Office brought a livestock trailer and loaded the bull for transport. The extent of its injuries was not immediately known.
