TOWN OF BRISTOL, Wis. (WKOW) — A single-vehicle crash on Monday morning left a juvenile driver in critical condition after hitting a guardrail and a tree.
The incident occurred at 8:25 a.m., according to a press release from Sun Prairie Fire & EMS. The Dane County Sheriff's Office responded first and requested additional assistance due to the seriousness of the situation.
Sun Prairie firefighters and paramedics utilized hydraulic rescue tools to extricate the trapped driver while providing advanced medical care. The critically injured individual was then airlifted by UW Health Med Flight to UW Hospital for further treatment.
“Crashes of this severity require every part of our team to operate in sync,” said Sun Prairie Fire Chief Christopher Garrison. He commended the collaboration among firefighters, paramedics, and the Dane County Sheriff's Office.
The investigation into the crash is ongoing, according to authorities.
