YAZOO COUNTY, Miss. — A driver was killed Thursday afternoon in a crash involving a school bus at a rural intersection in Yazoo County.
The victim was identified as Philip Williams, 63, of Yazoo City. According to the Yazoo County Sheriff's Office, the collision occurred around 3:18 p.m. at the intersection of Highway 49 and Highway 433 in Bentonia.
Investigators reported that a dark-colored GMC Canyon was traveling north on Highway 49 when it collided with a school bus moving west on Highway 433. The impact caused the pickup truck to overturn multiple times.
There were two students on the school bus at the time of the crash. Neither the children nor the bus driver sustained injuries, authorities said. Williams died at the scene as a result of injuries from the collision.
The sheriff's office stated the investigation is ongoing and expressed condolences to the victim's family.
