Two Dead, Two Injured in Toms River Crash
TOMS RIVER—Two people died and two, including a 4-year-old boy, were injured in a two-vehicle collision Thursday night on Hooper Avenue.
Authorities said Toms River Police responded to the scene around 8:45 p.m. A 2016 Chevrolet Equinox, driven by a 46-year-old man, was heading south on Hooper Avenue when it crossed the grassy median and collided with a 2025 Toyota RAV4 driven by a 28-year-old woman.
The impact caused the Toyota to roll onto its passenger side, coming to rest in a wooded area east of the roadway. The driver of the Toyota was pronounced dead at the scene, while the female passenger in the Chevrolet died after being transported to Community Medical Center in Toms River.
The 46-year-old driver of the Chevrolet and his 4-year-old passenger were both taken to Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune, where they remain in stable condition, according to Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley D. Billhimer.
Authorities have yet to identify the victims. The crash is under investigation by the Major Crime Unit-Vehicular Homicide Squad of the Prosecutor's Office and Toms River Police.
