Man dies after fall on MBTA escalator in Boston; investigation ongoing
BOSTON, MA — A man died following a fall on an escalator at the Haymarket MBTA station on May 16 at approximately 2:41 p.m.
Authorities said the man, identified as 34 years old, fell while attempting to exit the station. Emergency Medical Services (EMS) responded and transported him to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Witnesses reported that the escalator was operational at the time of the incident. The Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority (MBTA) stated that the escalator has been shut down for the investigation.
T police stated they are reviewing security footage to determine the circumstances surrounding the fall. No additional injuries were reported from the incident.
