BARRINGTON, N.Y. — Three individuals sustained serious injuries, and a horse had to be euthanized following a crash involving a horse and buggy on Sunday afternoon.
According to the Yates County Sheriff's Office, deputies responded to Six Corners Road just before 2:35 p.m. for a collision involving a car and a horse-drawn buggy. A southbound vehicle struck the buggy from behind, ejecting its occupants and inflicting significant damage to both the car and the buggy.
Authorities reported that a man, a woman, and a child in the buggy were airlifted by Mercy Flight to Strong Memorial Hospital due to serious injuries. The two occupants of the car, a woman and a child, did not sustain injuries.
The driver of the vehicle has been charged with following too closely.
A portion of Six Corners Road was closed for approximately three hours but has since been reopened. The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
