Six Hospitalized in Multi-Vehicle Crash on I-25 Near Greenwood Village
SIX PEOPLE were taken to the hospital following a serious multi-vehicle crash on southbound Interstate 25 near Greenwood Village on Thursday night.
The incident occurred at approximately 6:52 p.m. near I-25 and Arapahoe Road, according to South Metro Fire Rescue. A hazardous materials truck was dispatched to address a fuel leak from one of the vehicles involved.
Details regarding the severity of the injuries were not immediately available. Authorities indicated that southbound I-25 will remain closed for an extended period, impacting traffic flow.
The Regional Transportation District's E Line is also suspended due to debris on the tracks, as confirmed by South Metro spokesperson Brian Willie. Shuttle buses are replacing E Line service at the Lincoln, County Line, Dry Creek, Arapahoe at Village Center, Orchard, Belleview, and Southmoor stations until further notice, per an RTD alert.
The Colorado Department of Transportation confirmed that southbound I-25 is closed at exit 198 for Orchard Road and Greenwood Village. The Greenwood Village Police Department is conducting an investigation into the crash.
