Stolen Shuttle Bus Crashes on I-70, Causing Major Traffic Delays

A Clear Creek County shuttle bus was stolen in Georgetown and later crashed on Interstate 70 on Friday afternoon. The incident occurred around 12:40 p.m. while officers were responding to a crash near mile marker 241, just outside Idaho Springs.

According to the Clear Creek County Sheriff's Office, the stolen Roundabout bus sped through the crash scene, hitting a police cruiser and narrowly missing emergency personnel. Body-worn camera footage from the Idaho Springs Police Department shows the bus maneuvering past stopped vehicles on the shoulder, entering the crash site and colliding with the police .

Police located the abandoned bus in Denver at approximately 1:20 p.m. The incident resulted in significant traffic backups on eastbound I-70, which were cleared by 1:35 p.m.
