Stolen Shuttle Bus Crashes on I-70, Causing Major Traffic Delays
A Clear Creek County shuttle bus was stolen in Georgetown and later crashed on Interstate 70 on Friday afternoon. The incident occurred around 12:40 p.m. while officers were responding to a single-vehicle crash near mile marker 241, just outside Idaho Springs.
According to the Clear Creek County Sheriff's Office, the stolen Roundabout bus sped through the crash scene, hitting a police cruiser and narrowly missing emergency personnel. Body-worn camera footage from the Idaho Springs Police Department shows the bus maneuvering past stopped vehicles on the shoulder, entering the crash site and colliding with the police car.
Police located the abandoned bus in Denver at approximately 1:20 p.m. The incident resulted in significant traffic backups on eastbound I-70, which were cleared by 1:35 p.m.
