WAMEGO, KS—A 17-year-old died after being thrown from a utility terrain vehicle (UTV) in a crash early on Sept. 13 in Pottawatomie County.
Dylan Higgins of Wamego was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the Pottawatomie County Sheriff's Office. A 16-year-old female passenger sustained minor injuries, while the 18-year-old driver, Harry Costa, was uninjured and not transported by ambulance.
The crash occurred around 12:50 a.m. at the intersection of Old Post and Genn roads. Costa was reportedly driving eastbound on Old Post Road when he lost control while attempting to turn south onto Genn Road.
Authorities are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash.
