TURNER — A head-on collision involving two vehicles occurred on Route 117 Thursday night around 9 p.m., prompting a shutdown of the roadway.
According to authorities, the crash took place near 556 Buckfield Road, close to Mountainside Drive. Initial reports indicated serious injuries, including broken legs, though the exact number of victims was not confirmed at the time.
Emergency responders, including Androscoggin County Sheriff's deputies, fire crews, and medical personnel, arrived promptly at the scene. A request for a LifeFlight helicopter was made, but it is unclear if it was deployed.
By 9:30 p.m., police advised motorists to seek alternative routes as medical teams treated the injured and began their investigation into the incident. Further updates are expected as officials continue to gather information.
