MULTI-VEHICLE ACCIDENT ON HIGHWAY 20 IN SPRINGFIELD CLAIMS ONE LIFE
SPRINGFIELD, Oct. 5 — A multi-vehicle crash on Highway 20 near Elm Street occurred at approximately 2:41 p.m. today, resulting in one confirmed fatality.
Authorities reported the collision involved three vehicles traveling eastbound. One driver, a 34-year-old male, was pronounced dead at the scene. Two other individuals sustained minor injuries and were transported to Springfield General Hospital for evaluation.
Emergency responders from the Springfield Fire Department and local law enforcement arrived promptly, closing two lanes of traffic for approximately two hours while the scene was cleared. Towing services recovered the vehicles involved, and the highway has since reopened.
An investigation is ongoing, according to the Springfield Police Department. No further details have been released at this time.
