Columbus, Ohio — May 14, 2026: Coroner records confirm high blood-alcohol level in April 23 wrong-way fatal crash on I-270 South.

According to the Franklin County Coroner, toxicology released May 13 found Jacob Fischer, 28, had a 0.183 blood-alcohol concentration; THC was detected.

According to the Franklin County Sheriff's Office, the occurred at 12:47 a.m. April 23 on I-270 South near Dempsey Road.

Authorities said both drivers—Fischer, of Kentucky, and Aobyda Nadeem, 24, of Columbus—were transported to Mount Carmel East Hospital in critical condition.

Authorities said Nadeem died at 1:32 a.m. April 23. The coroner reported Fischer died April 24 from crash injuries.

In an updated statement, the Sheriff's Office said Ohio Department of Transportation video showed a black vehicle entering I-270 in the wrong direction; investigators have not located crash footage and have not determined fault.

Investigators plan to download data from both vehicles to assess movement and direction of travel; the investigation remains open.

Officials did not release information on lane closures or towing.
