Pedestrian Seriously Injured in Early Morning Crash on 6th Ave

AURORA, Colo. — Eastbound 6th Avenue closed at Potomac Street for approximately 2.5 hours following a pedestrian-involved crash on Tuesday morning, according to the Aurora Police Department (APD).

The pedestrian was transported to the hospital with serious, potentially life-threatening injuries. The driver of the vehicle remained at the scene to cooperate with authorities.

The crash occurred around 4:52 a.m., prompting an investigation by the APD Traffic Investigations Unit. Eastbound 6th Avenue at Potomac reopened around 7:28 a.m. APD recommended alternatives via Colfax or Alameda Avenues for motorists during the closure.

Authorities confirmed one individual was injured in the incident. APD continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash.

Denver7 traffic expert Jayson Luber noted that many drivers opted for Alameda to access Interstate 225, advising that taking Colfax could save time.
