Pedestrian killed in hit-and-run crash on South Dupont Highway.

Fatal Incident Under Investigation in New Castle

NEW CASTLE, DE — A accident resulted in the death of a pedestrian on South Dupont Highway on Sept. 8 around 8 p.m. According to Delaware State Police, the victim was struck while walking northbound in the southbound lanes, just south of Pulaski Highway.

Authorities stated that the vehicle involved fled the scene. The impact propelled the pedestrian into a wooded area. Emergency Medical Services located the individual shortly thereafter while responding to another incident.

The southbound lanes of South Dupont Highway were closed for approximately four hours during the investigation. As of now, the identity of the victim remains unknown, and no further details about their age or gender have been released.
