INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — A 45-year-old pedestrian died Tuesday morning following a hit-and-run incident on the city's west side.
The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD) responded to a report of the crash at approximately 8 a.m. near the intersection of Bridgeport and Rockville Roads. Upon arrival, officers found the male victim gravely injured off the shoulder of the roadway.
The victim, later identified as Anthony Thomas, was transported to a local hospital but succumbed to his injuries.
Authorities confirmed that investigations are ongoing, and IMPD Officer Tommy Thompson urged anyone with relevant information to come forward. “This area, we don't have a lot of cameras. We need any help that we can get,” Thompson stated.
No details regarding the vehicle involved or potential witnesses have been released at this time. The roadway has been temporarily affected by the investigation, but specific lane closures have not been disclosed.
