LAKE WORTH BEACH, Fla. — On Aug. 1–2, deputies responded to two pickup crashes along South Dixie Highway; the same driver was arrested.
According to the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office, deputies responded Aug. 1 to a crashed black pickup at 605 South Dixie Highway.
The driver, identified as Cesar James, 35, was found to be driving with a revoked license, authorities said.
Palm Beach County Fire Rescue attempted to provide medical aid, but James became uncooperative and allegedly tried to strike firefighters; one reported being punched multiple times, PBSO said.
He was transported to JFK Medical Center, where he continued verbal assaults toward medical staff and deputies and raised a closed fist at an officer before being subdued, according to an affidavit.
The next day, Aug. 2, deputies were called to 6th Avenue S and South Dixie Highway for another crash involving a black pickup into a streetlamp, authorities said.
Investigators identified James as the driver and determined the vehicle had been stolen from a Boynton Beach residence, according to PBSO.
Over the two cases, James was arrested on charges including grand theft of a motor vehicle; battery on a firefighter; corruptly threatening a public servant; intent to threaten violence; driving while license suspended or revoked causing serious bodily injury/fleeing; and operating a motor vehicle with a revoked license, authorities said.
No additional injuries were reported. Both crashes remain under investigation.
