March 9, 2026, 9:07 a.m. CT – A passenger exited a moving vehicle and was struck and killed by another vehicle late March 8, approximately 4.5 miles north of Valley Falls, according to the Kansas Highway Patrol.
The incident occurred around 8:50 p.m. at the intersection of Half Mound Road and Coal Creek Road. The crash report indicates the location is 4.8 miles north of the K-16 highway intersection with Half Mound Road.
Two vehicles were traveling eastbound on Half Mound Road when the rear-seat passenger from one vehicle exited while it was in motion. This passenger was subsequently struck by another vehicle.
