Motorcyclist Killed in Collision with Deer in Rural North Carolina
RURAL NORTH CAROLINA — A motorcyclist was killed after colliding with a deer on State Highway 123 at approximately 8:15 p.m. on October 5.
According to the State Highway Patrol, the motorcycle struck the deer, resulting in the rider being thrown from the vehicle. The rider, identified as a 34-year-old male, was pronounced dead at the scene. His passenger, a 31-year-old female, sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment.
Emergency response teams, including local law enforcement and medical personnel, arrived shortly after the incident. The highway was temporarily closed in both directions for an investigation and to clear the scene. No other vehicles were involved in the crash, and the cause remains under investigation.
Authorities reminded motorists to remain vigilant for wildlife in the area, especially during dusk and dawn when animal activity is higher.
