MIDDLETOWN – A man was apprehended Monday afternoon after fleeing the scene of a motorcycle crash involving two cars, according to Police Chief R. Craig Weber.

Authorities identified the suspect as Michael Crupi, 48, of Parsippany. He faces multiple charges, including receiving a stolen motor vehicle, obstruction, resisting arrest, and possession of suspected crack cocaine.

At about 12:45 p.m. on July 21, Middletown Police responded to a collision at Route 35 and Cherry Tree Farm Road. Officers learned the motorcycle had left the scene immediately after the accident. Patrolman Salvatore Albanese located the motorcycle and Crupi on Wilson Avenue near Route 36.

As Albanese approached, Crupi fled on foot. Following a brief chase, officers, including Detective Lt. Brian McGrogan, apprehended him. The motorcycle had been reported stolen from Wall Township.

Crupi was processed and taken to Monmouth County Jail in Freehold Township, where he remained in custody as of Wednesday evening.
