Motorcycle crash kills James Sellars; driver flees scene.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) — Charges are pending against a driver involved in a crash that resulted in the death of 33-year-old James Sellars on Tuesday night.

Authorities said Sellars was stopped at a red light on his motorcycle at Old Hickory Boulevard and Pitts Avenue when a Mercedes collided with him from behind. The driver fled the scene, prompting a police investigation.

Zackary Sellars, James's younger brother, expressed his disbelief and sorrow, stating, “I'm confused. I'm lost.” He stressed the gravity of the situation, asserting that it's “sickening” someone could leave without checking on the victim.

The crash occurred shortly after Zackary returned home with plans to surprise his family. Minutes after landing, he received the devastating news of his brother's accident. “The only memory I have is my brother laying in the road for hours before they picked him up,” he recalled.

Family members described James as an outdoorsman devoted to his children. Zackary emphasized the impact of the tragedy on James's daughter and son, who will grow up without their father.

In light of the incident, Zackary is committed to seeking justice. “If it takes me years, I will dedicate my life to this,” he said. James did not have life insurance, leading the family to establish a GoFundMe for funeral expenses. Police confirmed that the driver has since come forward and the vehicle has been located.
