CASS COUNTY, Iowa — An 18-year-old is dead and another is injured following a crash in Cass County on Saturday evening.
According to Iowa State Patrol troopers, the vehicle was traveling east on Highway 6 when it left the road and rolled into a ditch around 5:15 p.m. Cierra Bullock, 18, of Glencoe, Minnesota, was ejected from the car and pronounced dead at the scene. The driver, also an 18-year-old, is expected to survive.
Emergency services responded promptly, and an investigation into the incident is ongoing. No further details about the crash or any road closures have been confirmed.
Authorities reported that this incident contributes to a rising trend; 92 people have died on Iowa roads this year, marking an increase of 17 fatalities compared to the previous year at the same time. Over the past five years, an average of 337 fatalities have occurred annually in statewide crashes.
