Man dies in off-road vehicle crash in Pike County.

STENDEL, Ind. — A 50-year-old man from Oakland City died in an off-road vehicle crash on Sunday evening in southeastern Pike County, according to the Indiana Department of Natural Resources.

The incident occurred just after 7:30 p.m. near Old State Road 64 and State Road 257 while John G. Goodall was leaving a deer hunting area to retrieve his spouse. Authorities said Goodall's vehicle overturned, trapping him underneath. His spouse, who heard the crash, called 911.

Emergency responders pronounced Goodall dead at the scene. The investigation is ongoing, with Indiana conservation officers urging off-road vehicle riders to wear helmets and protective gear.

Assisting at the scene were the Pike County Sheriff's Department, Indiana State Police, Patoka Township Fire Department, and Pike County Emergency Medical Services.

Pike County has a population of approximately 12,100 residents and is located in southwest Indiana, with its county seat in Petersburg, about a 50-minute drive northeast of downtown Evansville.
