Londonderry Police Officer Injured in Motorcycle Crash
A Londonderry police officer was injured in a motorcycle crash on Thursday while responding to a serious motor vehicle accident.
The incident occurred at approximately 3:15 p.m. on Route 102 near the intersection with Mammoth Road. Reports indicated that the officer lost control of the motorcycle and crashed while en route to the scene.
The officer, whose identity has not been released, was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Authorities said the officer was wearing a helmet during the incident.
Emergency response included the LONDONDERRY POLICE DEPARTMENT and LONDONDERRY FIRE DEPARTMENT, which provided medical aid on-site.
According to witnesses, the area experienced temporary lane closures as first responders assessed the situation. An investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash is currently ongoing.
No other vehicles were involved in the motorcycle crash, and there were no additional injuries reported.
