A juvenile driver was killed in a wrong-way crash on Route 1 near the Revere/Saugus line early Sunday morning.
The crash occurred around 3:23 a.m., according to Massachusetts State Police. The juvenile was traveling southbound in the northbound lanes when his vehicle collided head-on with another vehicle just south of Sargent Street in Revere.
Authorities reported that the wrong-way vehicle was found completely engulfed in flames. The juvenile driver was pronounced dead at the scene; his identity has not been released.
The driver of the second vehicle sustained minor injuries and was transported to a Boston hospital for treatment.
The Suffolk County District Attorney's Office is investigating the cause of the crash.
