A four-vehicle crash left one dead and two injured in Cole County on Sunday.
The incident occurred at 3:15 p.m. on U.S. Highway 50 near Route E, approximately five miles east of Jefferson City, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.
Authorities reported that a 58-year-old woman lost control of her vehicle, leading to a chain reaction involving three other vehicles.
The woman was pronounced dead at the scene, while two other drivers sustained moderate injuries and were transported to local hospitals.
Witnesses indicated that weather conditions were clear at the time of the incident.
Emergency responders from the Cole County Fire Protection District and local law enforcement agencies assisted at the scene.
Authorities closed the eastbound lanes of U.S. Highway 50 for approximately two hours during the investigation and cleanup.
