Goldsboro police have secured warrants for a 20-year-old man after determining a crash on U.S. 70 West was intentional and linked to a domestic disturbance.
Officers responded at 10:42 p.m. on June 16 to the 1200 block of U.S. 70 West for a crash with injuries. The investigation revealed that Jareyon Powell, 20, pursued the victim westbound and struck her vehicle, causing her to lose control and crash. Powell also lost control and was ejected when his vehicle rolled over.
Both individuals were transported to UNC Health Wayne for non-life-threatening injuries. Powell was subsequently taken by ambulance to ECU Health Medical Center in Greenville.
Warrants have been issued for Powell on the following charges:
- First-degree attempted murder
- Driving while impaired
- Driving after consuming under 21
- Interfering with emergency communications
- Reckless driving
- Driving while license revoked — impaired revocation
Authorities stated that the warrants will be served once Powell is released from medical care.
