CORAL GABLES, Fla. — A Learjet crash on Military Trail near 10th Avenue North in Greenacres on October 1 killed all nine aboard.
Authorities confirmed that the crash left a significant crater in the roadway and injured one person on the ground. Emergency responders arrived promptly, assisting the injured and securing the scene.
The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) is leading the investigation. Investigators have not yet established a cause for the crash, and wreckage remains at the site.
Allan Filgueiras, father of co-pilot Nathalia Filgueiras, spoke publicly for the first time since the tragedy, expressing grief while vowing to honor his daughter’s legacy. “Nathalia was extraordinary,” he said, highlighting her passion for aviation and her qualifications despite her young age.
Filgueiras noted that his daughter had been an aviator since age 12, inspired by him to pursue her dreams. He expressed pride in her achievements and lamented the loss, stating, “It feels like my heart has been ripped from my chest.”
The family has retained legal counsel; however, they have not filed a lawsuit. Filgueiras emphasized the desire to honor all families impacted by the tragedy and await the findings from the ongoing investigation.
Meanwhile, family and friends remember Nathalia fondly, and the NTSB’s inquiry remains ongoing as it seeks to determine the circumstances surrounding the crash.
