DENVER — A 29-year-old man, Jeffery Alvarez, was arrested in connection with a fatal hit-and-run crash early Saturday morning on the Speer Boulevard on-ramp to northbound Interstate 25.
Authorities reported the incident occurred around 1 a.m., involving two vehicles. One person was hospitalized and later pronounced dead, while another sustained minor injuries. The identity of the deceased will be released by the Denver Medical Examiner's Office at a later time.
Witnesses noted that the suspected hit-and-run driver fled the scene on foot. Details on the suspect's description have not been made public.
The on-ramp was closed for several hours as officials conducted an investigation. This incident marks one of three deadly hit-and-run crashes in the Denver metro area from Friday night into Saturday morning.
Earlier, a 16-year-old on an electric scooter was struck and killed in Aurora, while another pedestrian was killed in a crash in Westminster, where a suspect has since returned to the scene.
