CHESAPEAKE, Va. — A police car crashed into a railing on the Chesapeake Bay Bridge-Tunnel around 2:41 p.m. on May 20, following a medical emergency.
The vehicle flipped over a guardrail near an electrical line, authorities reported. The officer involved sustained minor injuries and was transported by ambulance for evaluation. No other injuries were reported.
According to Tom Anderson, a spokesperson for the Chesapeake Bay Bridge-Tunnel Authority, there will be no charges filed due to the medical emergency that led to the crash.
Emergency response teams arrived on the scene, and traffic on the bridge-tunnel was briefly impacted during the incident.
