MADISON — A dramatic scene unfolded on Wednesday at the intersection of South Stoughton Road and Pflaum Road when a red sedan became airborne, flipping over and colliding with four other vehicles. The collision left the driver of the red with serious injuries, leading to a felony charge for operating while intoxicated, as reported by the Madison Police Department.

Emergency responders from the Madison Fire Department were alerted to the incident after multiple callers dialed 911. Witnesses recounted how the sedan veered off the roadway, flew through the air, and ultimately landed upside down, wedged against two other vehicles.

Upon arrival, Ladder Co. 14 discovered the red sedan emitting smoke. Firefighters acted swiftly to extinguish the flames that had erupted from the vehicle. Meanwhile, two occupants of the sedan managed to escape with assistance from bystanders.

The driver, however, was in critical condition and required transport to a local hospital. The passenger was also taken for treatment, although their injuries were deemed non-life threatening. In addition to them, two drivers of the other vehicles involved received medical evaluations. One sustained minor injuries and was subsequently transported to the emergency room, while the second declined hospitalization after a medical assessment.
