Raleigh Native Rescues Man After Single-Car Crash in New York
A former football star from Enloe High School in Raleigh, Larry Pickett Jr., and his father rescued a man following a single-car crash in New York on Saturday.
The incident occurred at approximately 3:15 p.m. on Interstate 87 near Exit 9. Authorities said that the car, traveling south, lost control and struck a guardrail. The driver, a 34-year-old male, sustained serious injuries and was trapped inside the vehicle.
Emergency response teams, including the State Police and local fire department, arrived on the scene shortly after receiving the call. Firefighters used specialized equipment to free the driver, who was subsequently transported to a nearby hospital for treatment.
Witnesses reported that Pickett and his father, who were passing by, rushed to the aid of the driver before emergency responders arrived. According to local authorities, no fatalities were reported.
