WESTMINSTER, Colo. — A driver was killed and another critically injured in a two-vehicle crash on US 36 early Sunday morning.
The incident occurred in the westbound lanes near the Sheridan Boulevard exit around 2:41 a.m., according to the Westminster Police Department. Authorities said both drivers sustained critical injuries and were transported to a local hospital, where one was later pronounced dead.
The identity of the deceased is being withheld pending notification of next of kin. The cause of the crash is currently under investigation.
The crash resulted in hours-long lane closures on US 36. This incident follows another crash investigation involving a pedestrian in Boulder County shortly before. Colorado State Patrol reports that a westbound SUV lost control while trying to avoid a stalled vehicle, colliding with a pedestrian, who was taken to the hospital with unspecified injuries.
