Nine Injured in Collision Involving Fire Engine and Bustang Bus in Downtown Colorado Springs
At approximately 10 a.m. on Saturday, June 13, a collision occurred between a Colorado Springs Fire Department engine and a Bustang bus at Tejon and Bijou streets.
The fire engine was responding to a medical call when the incident unfolded. Four firefighters sustained injuries and were transported to a local hospital. Additionally, five of the seven passengers on the Bustang bus were also taken to the hospital for evaluation and treatment, according to the Colorado Springs Fire Department.
Authorities confirmed that the Colorado Springs Police Department is investigating the crash. The fire department issued a statement addressing the risks firefighters take while serving the community and expressed gratitude for the rapid response from public safety teams and medical personnel.
