Horry County Firefighter Dies in Marion County Crash
MARION, S.C. — A firefighter from Horry County was killed in a car accident late September 3, according to authorities.
Dimario Stephens, an EMT with Horry County Fire Rescue since May, was involved in a single-vehicle crash shortly after 11 p.m. on Wahee Road near Cool Springs Road, said Cpl. Nick Pye of the South Carolina Highway Patrol.
Stephens was driving a 2020 Nissan sedan southbound when he veered off the road and struck a tree. He was the only occupant of the vehicle at the time of the accident.
Authorities confirmed that Stephens was pronounced dead at the scene. The incident is under investigation, and details regarding potential contributing factors have not yet been released.
Horry County Fire Rescue extended condolences to Stephens' family, friends, and colleagues through a post on their Facebook page.
