GOODING, Idaho — An 18-year-old man has died from injuries sustained in a crash on June 3, according to authorities.
The Ada County Coroner's Office identified the victim as Andres Salas from Shoshone. He was pronounced dead on June 10 at Saint Alphonsus Regional Medical Center in Boise after lifesaving efforts failed.
According to Idaho State Police, the collision occurred at approximately 6:38 p.m. on U.S. Highway 26, east of Gooding near milepost 153. Salas was operating a 2013 Ford Explorer eastbound when he struck the rear of a 2019 Freightliner, which was also traveling east and attempting a left turn.
Salas was airlifted to the hospital in critical condition following the incident. The coroner's office reported his death resulted from blunt force trauma to the head and was ruled accidental.
Eastbound lanes of U.S. 26 were blocked for nearly two hours post-crash. The investigation is ongoing.
