LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Police have arrested a man for his alleged role in a fatal rollover crash near Louisville International Airport on June 2.
Michael Joseph, 39, was apprehended Monday and faces multiple charges, including leaving the scene of an accident with death, reckless driving, and failure to maintain required insurance.
The crash occurred at approximately 4:30 p.m. in the 5000 block of Crittenden Drive, involving two vehicles. One vehicle struck a pole, resulting in a rollover that brought down power lines. John “Chris” Goodaker, 54, was pronounced dead at the scene; he was a noted graduate of St. X High School.
According to the arrest citation, Joseph departed the scene without assisting Goodaker. Law enforcement identified Joseph's vehicle, and upon contact, he claimed it had not been moved for 30 days due to mechanical issues. He later admitted his involvement in the incident.
The citation indicated that Joseph was traveling at a high speed and was improperly passing at the time of the crash, and noted that he was driving without a valid license or proof of insurance. Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident.
